Obituary for Claude Hamilton Mynatt

Claude Hamilton Mynatt-age 92 of Maynardville passed away Friday morning, February 23, 2018 at North Knoxville Medical Center. He was preceded in death by wife, Genevieve Cooke Mynatt; parents, Horace and Gertrude Robinson Mynatt; brothers, Vernon and Herbert Mynatt; sister, Elizabeth Mynatt.

Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, David and Linda Mynatt; granddaughter, Stacy Leigh Mynatt. Sister-in-law, Martha Mynatt along with several nephews and a niece.
Claude was a member of First Baptist Church of Maynardville where he served as Deacon for several years. He was a World War II Veteran and served in the U.S. Army 60th Infantry Regiment in France, Belgium and Germany. Claude was also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of J. C. Baker Lodge #720 F. & A.M.

He operated Mynatt’s Used Cars and Body Shop for over 50 years before retiring. He loved antique cars and was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America and won the National Title with a 1931 Pierce Arrow Sedan. He enjoyed doing woodworking and was very talented building furniture, grandfather clocks, jewelry boxes and his last work was a beautiful Mandolin completed when he was 80 years old.

The family will receive friends 5-7 P.M. Sunday, February 25, 2018 with a masonic service 7 P.M. Sunday by J. C. Baker Lodge #720 F. & A.M. and the funeral service to follow, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Gary Beeler officiating with music by Ray and Kathy Brewer. Military graveside service and interment 11 A.M. Monday, February 26, 2018, Pleasant View Cemetery, Maynardville conducted by Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers: Paul Walker, Billy Barnes, Robert Loy, Earl Loy, Ray Brewer, James Lynn Dixon. Honorary Pallbearers: Wayne Butler and J. V. Waller.

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude for the wonderful care and friendship extended thru the years by Dr. Fred A. Hurst and Staff. Our sincere appreciation for the care from the nurses, doctors and staff of Tennova North Knoxville Medical Center.
