I wrestled for 11 years around East Tennesse. I would have to say that one of the highlights of my career was the few times I got to be with Archie in the ring. I grew up watching him on TV and then when I got the chance to wrestle with him, it was an honor. He always conducted himself as a gentleman that you wanted to look up to when ever you had the privilege to carry on a conversation with him. However, when you got in the ring, it was like a switch was flipped and you better be ready to take care of yourself. One of my best memories was a match we had in Huntsville TN back in the late 90's. We ended up outside the ring and "The Stomper" ran my head into a table near ringside. At first, I thought he had busted my nose. I soon discovered what had actually happen was he had "liberated my sinuses" when I hit the table.
I'm very saddened to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, kids, and family. He was a great man and loved by many!
