Obituary for Hobart Edgar Cook

Hobart Edgar Cook-age 85 of Maynardville went home to be with the Lord Monday morning, January 14, 2019 at Holston Healthcare. Edgar was a member and deacon of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and he loved singing with the Cedar Grove Quartet. He served in the U. S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Retired employee of Dempster Brothers, Knoxville. Edgar also served as the City Manager of Maynardville for three years. Preceded in death by son, Donnie Cook; parents, Hobart and Mossie Cook; brother, Carlyle Cook; sisters, Carolyn Norris and Oval Cox.

Survivors: wife, Janice Irick Cook; sons, Joey (Beth) Cook and Tim (Leanne) Cook; three grandchildren, Lydia Cook; Keith (Kayla) Cook and Felicia Cook; two great-grandchildren, Brianna Cook and Madeline Cook. Brothers, Charles Cook; K. D. (Carol) Cook; Ted (Joan) Cook; sisters, Opal Cox, Estelle Caldwell, Wanda Perry, Christine Kiser, Nell Southerland and husband, Roe; sisters-in-law, Faye Cook, Myra Beeler and Linda Cox. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives along with a host of friends.

The family will receive friends 5-7 P.M. Wednesday, January 16, 2019 with funeral service to follow at 7 P.M., Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Brian Cooke, Rev. Fred Goodson officiating with music by Cedar Grove Quartet. Interment 11 A.M. Thursday, Oakland Cemetery, Maynardville. Family and friends will meet by 10 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home to go in procession. Pallbearers: Keith Cook, Randall Kiser, Ronnie Perry, Clayton Cox, Keith Norris, David Cox. Honorary Pallbearers: Rev. Luther Cox and the Deacons of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
