Obituary for Michael Shane Smith

Michael Shane Smith-age 46 of Corryton passed away Friday evening, May 4, 2018 at his home after a year long battle with lymphoma. Shane was a trooper and fought cancer hard without wavering and never complaining. He was a member of Atkins Baptist Church. Shane was a dedicated driver for XPO Logistics for 25 years and considered his fellow drivers to be family. Shane loved to restore cars and one of his biggest loves was his 1965 Ford. He had many hobbies to include hunting, camping and was happiest at car shows. Above all, Shane was a loving husband, father and son always putting his family first. Shane was also a father figure to many of Adam's friends. Preceded in death by Papaw Earl Loop.

Survivors: wife of 25 years, Meleaia Smith; son, Adam Smith; son of the heart, Austin Collins; parents, Donnie and Sharon Hodges; half-sister, Kim Amara; grandmother, Lucille Loop; parents-in-law, Fred and Judy Najar, Dan and Vicky Hubbs. A host of extended family and many friends.

The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2018 with funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. Sunday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Tim Inklebarger, Rev. Jim West officiating. Interment 1 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2018, Greenwood Cemetery, Knoxville. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home 11:30 a.m. Monday. Pallbearers: Scott Inklebarger, Adam Smith, Austin Collins, Robbie King, Randy Savage, Chris Seivers, Robert Taylor, Sonny Lindsay. Honorary Pallbearers: XPO Logistic Drivers. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
