Obituary for Rev. Walter Oxendine

Rev. Walter Oxendine-age 76 of Luttrell passed away Monday, May 29, 2017 at Beverly Park Place. He was a member and former pastor of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. Preceded in death by infant daughter, Joyce Leann Oxendine; parents, Eddie Plumer and Ruby Hazel (Sands) Oxendine; sister, Frances Inklebarger.

Survivors: wife, Joann Nicely Oxendine; son, Eddie Oxendine of Luttrell; sisters, Alice Nicely, Maynardville; Betty Hayes, Morristown; brothers, R. G. Oxendine, Knoxville; Jesse Oxendine, Maynardville; Jimmy Oxendine, Blaine. Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.


The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Thursday, June 1, 2017 with funeral service to follow at 8 P.M. Thursday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. David Acuff, Rev. Justin Howard officiating with music by The Chestnut Grove Singers. Interment 11 A.M. Friday, June 2, 2017, Cabbage Cemetery, Washburn. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10 A.M. Friday to go in the procession. Pallbearers: Donnie Nicely Daniel Oxendine, Devin Nicely, Austin Nicely, Harold Webb, Chester Sturgeon. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
