Gilbert “Bob” Profitt, age 81 of Ridgeview Terrace, Rutledge went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 26, 2018 after passing of an illness at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Jefferson City. Bob was born in Gillmore, Kentucky on March 21, 1937 to Edna Campbell Profitt and Mort Profitt. He served in the Navy before spending the bulk of his career as a member and employee of the Teamsters Union. He was a long-time resident of Knoxville, Tennessee and lived in the Halls Crossroads Community for over 20 years. Bob and his wife, Bonnie, were members of Highland View Baptist Church in Halls, where they were also baptized. He enjoyed gospel bluegrass, “real country music”, playing Rook, and had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. Bob was known for always having a smile on his face, loving his grand babies, and never failed to surrounded himself with good friends. He was a simple man, who cherished his family, football, Sunday dinners, and keeping up with politics.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Edna Campbell Profitt and Mort Profitt; siblings, Bill Profitt, Betty Jean Pergram, and Clyde Profitt.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Bonnie Lou Profitt; his 3 children, Thomas Len Profitt, Pamela Kaye Craig, and Bobbi Jo Hartsfield-Brooks; his 4 grandchildren, Jason Nichols, Kacey Johnson, Devyn Duren, and Tyler Hartsfield; and 8 great-grandchildren; along with 3 siblings, Albert Lee Profitt, Sara Jewell Profitt, and Ira Elizabeth Hall. He will be remembered and missed by many. The family thanks friends and others for condolences, as well as the caregivers at Ridgeview Terrace of Life Care in Rutledge, TN for all the love and support they showed to Bob.

The family will receive friends 1-2 P.M. Thursday, May 31, 2018 with funeral services 2 P.M. Thursday Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Maynardville, Reverend Terry Walker officiating. Interment Sam Atkins Cemetery, Washburn, TN. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
