Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Orena Clay can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Orena  Clay
Orena Clay, age 88 of Washburn, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018. She was a longtime member of Mt. Eager Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Loy and Orpha Shelton; husband of 57 years, Earl Clay; sisters, Ruth Clay and Lily Mae Lay.

Orena is survived by her five children and sons-in-law: June (John) Carpenter, Bill (Darlene) Clay, Jack (Barbara) Clay, Sherry Clay and Kristi (Tony) Savage; nine grandchildren: Tony and Richard Carpenter, Greg and Aaron Clay, Brad and Jeremy Bailey, Desmond Carter, April Whaley, Matthew Clay; several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; sisters: Evon Shelton, Nancy Hopson, Sue Frye and Judy Standifer; brothers: Frank and Joe Shelton; several nieces, nephews and many friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Willow Ridge for all of their loving care.

The family will receive friends 5 PM – 7 PM Friday, January 19, 2018 with funeral services to follow in Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Stevie Williams and Rev. Gary Donehew officiating, music by Tammy Nicely, Chuck Huskey and Tyler Clay. Family and friends will meet 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home for procession to Needham Cemetery, Washburn for 12 PM graveside services.
