Obituary for James David "J. D" Shope

James David (J.D.) Shope-age 73 of Maynardville passed away peacefully Sunday morning, May 14, 2017. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and enjoyed his grandbabies during his retirement. Preceded in death by parents, David and Bertie (Oxendine) Shope; sister, Jeanette Hefner.

Survivors: wife, Ruby Jean (Beeler) Shope; son, Stacy Shope and special friend, Kristy Savage; Todd and Marlena Shope; daughters, Cindy and Tim Hopson, Stephanie and Robert Blackburn, LeAnn Ray, Natasha and Charles Gentry, Kendra and David Casillas. 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. Brother, Lucky and Linda Shope; sisters, Alma Sue and Frank Bailey, Charlene Shepler. Several nieces, nephews and cousins along with a host of friends.

The family will receive friends 5-8 P.M. Tuesday, May 16, 2017 with funeral services to follow at 8 P.M. Tuesday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Phillip King, Rev. DeWayne Kitts officiating with music by The Valley Boys and Savannah Brogan. Military graveside service 12 noon Wednesday, May 17, 2017, Taylor’s Grove Church Cemetery, Sharps Chapel presented by Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 11 A.M. to go in the funeral procession. Pallbearers: Glen Shope, Timmy Shope, Donnie Shope, Eddie Bailey, Tony Hefner, Ronnie Shepler. Honorary Pallbearers: Lyndon King, Jerry Beeler, Bill Sweet, Allen Collins, Robbie Blackburn. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
