Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Mark Lay can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Mark Lay

Mark Lay-age 51 of Washburn passed away Friday morning, March 17, 2017 surrounded by his family. Mark was a member of Dutch Valley Baptist Church in Washburn. Preceded in death by father, Easton Lay.

Survivors: son, Sam (Dana) Lay of Maynardville; grandson, Easton Lay; mother, Opal Lay Messer, Washburn; sister, Sandra (Stacy Sr.) Fox of Maynardville; brother, Larry (Bonnie) Lay of Washburn. Nieces and nephews, Allissanne and Stacy Fox, Jr., Cody Lay.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017 with funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. Saturday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Joe Nicely, Rev. Tony Williams, Rev. Gary Donehew officiating with music by Rev. Richard and Linda Nicley. Interment 11 a.m. Sunday, March 19, 2017, Liberty Hill Cemetery, Washburn. Meet at the funeral by 10 a.m. Sunday to go in the funeral procession. Pallbearers: David Savage, Elmer Nicley, Randy Nicley, Mark Williams, Ralph Shelton, Billy Nicley. Honorary Pallbearers: Easton Lay, Curtis Nicley, Joe Rush, Bill Lay, John Beeler, Jerry Savage.

The family would like to express their appreciation to all our friends and Smoky Mountain Hospice during this difficult time. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
